1. Midnight in Changge – A Screw Is Born
1:00 a.m., Changge City, Henan Province.
Inside our factory on Tiefosi Avenue, the LED clock glows red.
Meanwhile, a five-axis spindle howls at 18 000 rpm.
Right now, a Ti-6Al-4V bone screw is taking shape: 0.9 mm Ø, 12 mm long, ±0.005 mm tolerance.
In twelve weeks this tiny part will sit in a sterile pack in Hamburg, ready for a surgeon’s hand.
2. From Village Plant to CE-Certified Tier-1
At MedtecLIVE 2023, three different CE auditors wrote the same sentence:
“Tier-1 micro-turning supplier eligible for Class III implants.”
Because of that single line, Fudong懿 became the first private Henan company to enter Europe’s highest-risk medical chain.
On top of that, we left Stuttgart with a five-year blanket order.
3. Hardware Without the Hype
Swiss turning cell
Citizen L20-XII, 0.1 µm glass scale, spindle run-out < 0.8 µm
200-bar through-tool coolant drills Ti 20×D in one pass
Five-axis micro-milling
Mikron HSM 400U LP, nitrogen-cooled holders, thermal drift < 1 µm
Mirror Ra 0.2 µm; post-polish is optional
Inspection & traceability
Zeiss Prismo CMM + Werth 0.3 mm fiber probe
100 % part check; laser-etched 2D code traces to melt batch in three seconds
4. 22 Patents and a Classroom on the Shop Floor
In 2024 we teamed up with Xuchang Vocational & Technical College to open a joint lab.
Students run machines by day; ex-Foxconn mentors troubleshoot at night.
Together we filed patent ZL20241023**.6**: an aluminum hot-forging die that cuts weight by 12 % and triples tool life.
5. Logistics & Cost – The Henan Formula
Material: annual Ti-6Al-4V contract with Toray; five-ton safety stock on site
Airport: 30 km to Zhengzhou; same-day FedEx cut-off, Europe DDP in 3–4 days
Price: 28 % lower than Swiss shops, five days faster than factories in the Pearl River Delta
6. Next Move – Automotive Safety Joins the Line-up
Q3 2024: a new 1 200 m² climate-controlled cell will serve Bosch and Continental.
A single MES backbone will route both medical-grade tolerances and automotive volumes through the same Citizen and Mikron machines.
Consequently, micro precision machining services and custom CNC Swiss lathe parts will no longer live on separate islands.
